Hi
One for the girls
since becoming pregnent with my girls ( I don't remember before) I have suffered with swallon ankles/legs at night. It feels as if I am walking on cusions and it makes me really unsteady on my feel and ouch the pain!!!
I went to the doctor about it and he put me on Dickoflex pain killiers and they work normally but don't work the week before my period, its really bad this month.
My husband has told me to put my feet up above my head but after a while my knee hurts and you cant type or read in that position!!!
Any ideas?

Your husband is partly right, you cannot put your feet up above your head that puts pressure on other joints, what you should do is to put your legs up slightly to allow the fluids to drain back . so a small stool and a cushion would help. My wife suffered with this when she was pregnant with my son and then again afterword's when she had our daughter.
All you need do is at rest put your legs just slightly raised. if they are swollen and puffy put a small pack of say frozen peas around the ankle for a few minutes at a time, do not leave them on or you could cause a burn to the area. |

Hi Shaz,
Well I havent got much more to add about the ankles I to have alot of problems with mine, so I can understand whare you are comeing from, I have spent meny a day with my legs up high, and with the frozen peas, but it does seem to work. Last summer I had major problems as I couldont get any shoes on at all and my husband had to go down the shop and buy some shoes that would fit, as you can imagin they went exactly the sort I would of bought but they were lovely and comfortable, and at least I coud go out. Anyway im sorry I couldont really help and I hope things get better for you.
Take care
Amanda
