I wont to know Whats brave about taking my children to school/nursery?. I don't need to even cross a road.
Yesterday I was taking my daughter to school when I met this women who started asking about my scooter, so I stopped to speak to her, then her parting shot was you are very brave.

Hi shaz,
Well I could say you are very brave about takeing your children to school but you are only doing what everymum does every day, Some people can be so patronizing, Ive had the same thing... Oh you poor thing....How do you cope.... Well we have to dont we. I know people thing they are being nice. but just because we have a disabilitie does not mean we dont do normal everyday things, yes they may be harder and may take a little more time, well acutally alot more in my case but we have to carry on. If I didiont struggle to get the boys to school I havent got anyone else to take them and I wouldnt want anyone else to take them anyway.

Bravery?I agree, this can be very patronising. I sometimes wonder if people think we sit at home, contemplating and worrying about our disabilities.
I mean, we still have to lead a relatively normal life and taking our children to school is part of that. What else did this person expect you to do? lol

Oh didn't you realise that the DWP think that if you're Disabled or lesser abled as i like to say, that you are supposed to sit in a chair orlie in bed all day and do nothing! if you dare to try and participate in community life you are regarded as being fit to work, if only!

news to meIs that how you really look at disability, I know many disabled people who help out in the community, have won awards and yet get high rate of care, of course this does not mean you can run a Marathon, or become a karate champion, or work in your mates café, unless you tell them first.
I think it is about using a bit of common sense. I also know people who are working a full week, and get DLA, they have of course do it the right way.

I was making my comments 'very tongue in cheek' becasue as a disabled person thats what i was told by a member of the DWP team, i to have won awards and work when my condition allows within the community but they're are some very spiteful people out there, who are only too happy to report you to DWP if you dare to try and integrate within society. this is my own personal experience!

It is a sad state of affairs when we as disabled people have to sit in the house all day because somebody is watching us, I lost interest in what others think many years ago. I now coach football to disabled kids from a wheelchair, the reason nobody else wants to do it.
The worse for reporting people are other disabled people, makes you wonder why, and the majority of disabled people that have reported somebody have themselves something to hide.
