If I go to my local Tesco after about 9.00 all the disabled bays are full, with non badged cars. Someone must have told them the disabled don't go shopping after 9.00 _________________ Mike Abbott

The fact is the law states the Blue badge can only legally be used on roads controlled under the highways and bye ways act. It is actually illegal for any private car Park or supermarket to ask a disabled person to show a blue badge. Tesco state that parking within their supermarkets is a concession. Did you know it is illegal for Tesco to demand anyone move from a disabled parking bay. because they are not legal. Also Tesco have stated their disability parking is for everyone who has a disability not for blue badge holders only. They say it can be for somebody with the flu to a broken leg.
Asda and the rest of the supermarkets also state that under the law as it stands now they cannot ask for blue badges to be used.
So really the question is about roads and right now police cannot act on parking on private parking sites.
Now do not get confused with supermarkets charging a fee this comes under a bye law controlled by local councils, a shop can make a charge for parking and restrictions, but legally cannot demand a blue badge be used. |

I've said it before and I'll say it again - the law is an ass. Time this was all changed, don't you think?

yes it should and the law needs to be made plain too many people actually think that Tesco or Asda are breaking the law by not asking people to move, in fact if Asda or Tesco asked somebody to move from a disabled parking bay they would break the law, because how do you know they are not disabled.
I agree the law does need changing, under the DDA.
